Monday morning we got up bright and early for breakfast. We decided we wanted to try the open seating as opposed to the buffet this time.
It was pretty much the same food only you didn't get to serve yourself but you didn't have to wait in line.
I was really anxious to see what the disembarking was like. I thought it would be more crazy than it was. We pretty much waited in a short line and scanned our "sail and sign" cards letting them know we were getting off. Then we were free to go.
We took a taxi from the port to the place that was designated as the meeting spot for our excursion. We didn't book this one through Carnival so you never know what you're gonna get. We couldn't get over the view as we waited for our guide to arrive.
{ just being crazy kids }
Once our guide arrived we got in our dune buggies! They weren't exactly what we had expected from the photo online. But then again, we were in Mexico, so what do you expect!
We named ours Green Lightening!
Our first stop on this dune buggy adventure was a little cove for snorkeling. Now after my experience trying to snorkel in Mexico last time (panic attack in the water, Logan saving me) I opted out. But the other guys looked super hot in their gear and they said it was incredible.
Our next stop was at this little village that was extremely out of the way, but I think our guide has family or friends there that wanted to make money off the tourists. We had to pay 50 cents to use the bathroom! That was a quick stop and next up was the beach!
It started to rain as we were driving to the beach. Rain is an understatement. It was a torrential down pour! I had to cover up with a towel because of how hard the water was pelting me! It hurt! But the weather in the Caribbean is crazy because one minute it's raining and the next it's a beautiful sunny day. Then back to rain.
The beach was across the road from a restaurant so while our guide prepared lunch for us we went for a swim. The water was so clear and beautiful! It was extremely salty though.
We were called in for lunch and as we were eating it started pouring again! We couldn't stop talking about what a weird and crazy day it had been. It was a cool experience to sit in that old restaurant, eating a strange meal, across from the beach, while it's pouring rain!
We loaded back in our buggies and made it back just in time to board the ship and get ready for dinner.
{ Walking toward the ship }
Our madradee's name was Ante'. He is from Croatia. He had the most wonderful accent and the most hilarious tag lines. When he was getting our attention for the show he would hold the mic close to his mouth and say . ."Shhhhhhh . . . .ow time! Shhhh . . .ow time!" And then when the servers were done doing their presentation, he always ended with, "Always remember, have some more fun! Fun Fun Fun!" For some reason with his accent it was just so funny. We looked forward to it every night!
That first excursion was AWESOME! The second we got back to the room we book another one for the next day in Honduras. We didn't want to waste a minute of time when off the ship. That night it was more comedy shows and dancing at club Caliente!
