Mahogany Bay, Isla Rotan, Honduras . . .
What a beautiful country!
Journal entry for May 31, 2011
"Today was a fun day! We got up and headed to the breakfast buffet around 9 after a quick workout on deck 12. After breakfast we headed to the port to catch our ride out to Tabyana Bay! We decided that since the 2 excursions we pre-booked were very high intensity, the other 2 ports we wanted to just chill. The beach we were going to was on the other side of the island so we got to take a bus ride across Isla Rotan. It was the coolest thing to see the Island as we drove to the other side.
The homes there were so humble. The people looked more African American then Hispanic like I expected. They were all very friendly. Once we got to the resort we were shocked at how beautiful it was. We had lounge chairs set out for us and cabanas set up for massages. You could tell where the border of the resort was because locals were lined up along the side hollering at us trying to get us to cross the line and buy something from them.
We rented snorkeling gear and I gave it a valiant effort. Unsuccessful. I only lasted about 2 minutes and I headed back for the shore."
Laying out was heavenly. So relaxing!
They had a great BBQ at the resort and we enjoyed a delicious lunch.
Once again the water was gorgeous and warm. This time it wasn't too salty either so it was much more enjoyable.
We took some pictures on the way back to the port so we could always remember what a beautiful place we live in. Our homes are huge! We all have washing machines and cars. We live in a totally different world then they do.
It was eye opening to say the least. Back to the journal:
"We made it back to the ship in time to rush off to dinner. Dinner was YUM! We came back to our rooms to rest and ended up playing some very silly games. (there may have been some candy throwing, etc . . .)

"I almost wet my pants when I was trying to hit Texie with peanut butter m&ms and I couldn't even make it through the door! Later we decided to check out Karaoke night. You'd never believe it but Texie and I got up and sang "Only One" by Rhianna. It was classic. We were hilarious! (at least we thought we were which is what matters most right).
Then we headed up to the Lido deck (which I nicknamed libido deck) for our nightly pizza snack. (more on that later) We have to get up early for Belize Cave Tubing and Zip lining tomorrow!"
